When I brought a new mate home for Victor named Betty he was very excited as you will hear in some of his other shorter clips. His goal was to teach her to talk like him and he had full faith in himself that he would be able to do it. In the beginning, she showed promise, as Victor spent much time training her. However, soon she became uncooperative, and stopped talking all together. In this recording Victor expresses his disappointment in her as he knew I was writing the story of how she was progressing as he was teaching her.
He says:
I'm just distraught and depressed.
I just wasted teaching all this time with her.
Talk is important okay.
You don't need a story of Betty, if I just can't get her talking.
Budgies that talk obviously want to.
That's why you tell me to feel better.
I hope they hear this.
